What Sevices Nira Offers

The mandate of NIRA, Somalia is to formulate Somali Civil Registration Vital Statistics (CRVS) & Civil Registration Management System (CRMS) is a state-of-the-art and technologically agile System that enables the concerned authorities to complete civil registration of four vital events i.e Birth, Death, Marriage and Divorce.
Where can I apply for registration?

You can apply for your ID card by visiting National Registration Center (NRC)

Following are the steps which you will be following at the NRC:

  • You will be issued a token
  • Your photograph will be captured
  • Your fingerprints and signature will be taken
  • Your required data entry will be done and form will be printed to be reviewed by yourself
  • You will be handed over a printed version of your application form.
How long will it take to process my application?

The card delivery and printing timelines depend on the application type selected. For the Normal category, the printing time of the card is approximately 31 days after approval by the case officer. Similarly, printing time for urgent and executive categories is approximately 23 and 7 working days respectively. If an application is submitted carefully along with complete documents, it will be approved in 48 hours. However, incomplete applications can take longer time and depends on the applicant’s reply to the case officer.
Further, during COVID-19 pandemic situation, courier services operations are severely affected, therefore delays are expected during the dispatch of cards.”

Where can I apply for child registration form?

You can apply for Child Registration Certificate (CRC) by going to the nearest National Registration Center (NRC).

What should I do if I have lost my ID Card

If you have lost your original identification card, you can apply for a reprint / lost

What is the renewal of NIC?

The renewal of an identity document refers to the process of obtaining a new, updated version of your existing identification card (e.g., ID Card) after its validity period has expired.

What is the “DUP” status?

A citizen marked as “DUP” in the NIRA database due to having duplicate identity cards has been issued. The individual needs to apply for DUP clearance to rectify the situation and retain the correct and valid identity card.
